Coolness from Dressler – get ready for ‘Geheimakte Joshua’

getting published joshua files translations

dressler-webplayer.JPG

I’ve been waiting with great excitement to let you all see the coolness that is in store from the German publisher of “Joshua Files” – Cecile Dressler Verlag.

Number one is this awesome Webplayer for “Geheimakte Joshua“. Btw the German title is actually cooler than the English one – because ‘Geheimakte’ translates as ‘secret files’ not just ‘files’. Oooh, mysterious – good choice, Frank! See the advantages of a fusional language?

The ‘Geheimakte Joshua’ webplayer features an interview with me – dubbed by me auf Deutsch (someone else translated the words), a sample chapter and a terrific little book trailer. I show this to kids when I do book visits – they love it!

The second thing is a lovely little online tool you can use to customise a bookmark of ‘Geheimakte Joshua’ and print it out!

gj-bookmark-small.JPGHere’s a bookmark I made earlier - with a little message from me and the Ek Naab hieroglyph stamp.

Finally, if you are seriously keen – the Dressler autumn 2008 catalogue, Joshua themed and with four pages devoted to our little book.

Crumbs I’m excited.

    Mg,

Crumbs – You should be excited! Nice bookmark, by the way. Link doesn’t work for me though – Just brings me back to this page. Anyhoo, I tried to make a bookmark, but it took way to long to load. Stupid laptop.

Good luck with ‘Geheimakte Joshua’. But – ‘Ich Nicht Spreken Deuctsh’ (I don’t speak German).

    Pretty good, huh? Woot.

VERY exciting stuff. By the way, my niece who goes to secondary school in Northwich, tells me that Invisible City is displayed in her school library as one of the “most read” books by the kids.

    Hey Mg,

I’m on my iTouch right now! Isn’t that awesome? Glad to hear that ‘Invisible City’ is doing well all across Britain!

I’m going to make a short book kind of like yours – with chases in Mexico and stuff. I’ll call it ‘The Nahaka Scripture’ and it will be amazing!

Wow – how fab! It must be so exciting to see your baby travelling the world and translated into different languages.

About that March 2009 date for book 2……….any chance of making it sooner??? I enjoyed the exchange of comments on the last blog post regarding books to read meanwhile. Michelle Paver – excellent series – newest book out very soon thankfully. Skulduggery Pleasant very good. If you like Alex Rider series, try Power of Five also by Anthony Horowitz. I’ve just read Inkheart by Cornelia Funke which is very good (just posted about it on my blog). Thanks you all for the other recommendations – will be checking them out.

    Kat :-)

That’s quite a cool vid. Inspiration from your video? he he same music, same style :P
Wow it’s had some good write-ups judging by the quotes
“a rapid action of full plot and intrigue”
    They got that right!
It translates as the secret document files doesn’t it? That’s a mouthfull. :D

    Hey,

Spot on, Lukas. It’s a really cool video – too bad I can’t understand it without Google translator.

Also, Mg, I can’t register on the forums (http://themgharris.com) for some reason. Any idea why not? It just brings me back to the ‘Enter your date of birth thing’. Oh yeah, since I’m on holiday my mum can’t fax anything. And it seems like a lot of hassle just to get to post on some forums. Heck – I’m a member on a lot of forums and they don’t mind my age.

Also – wrote the first chapter of that book I was talking about!

Footsteps. An all to familiar sound. My dad was going up to the attic again. Sure – I’ve wondered what he was doing up there, but whenever I built up the courage to ask he just shrugged me off.

It goes on about… well… I’ll tell whn I do.

Kat – it’s unthinkably weird to think of ‘my baby’ being read around the world. But between you and me I don’t think of it as that AT ALL. I feel like I’m the person whose job it happens to be to write Joshua Files and then once it’s published, to go around talking about it. It’s a strange feeling…

Lukas – thanks for your comments re German vid. I like to think it’s inspired by my trailer at least, but think they really took it to the next level. I am already thinking about the vid for Book 2…

Keith – sorry about themgharris.com. We’re being supergood there and complying with strict child-protection guidelines. If you happened to be 13 you wouldn’t have had a problem. If you catch my drift. And keep writing! Sounds intriguing…!

GUESS WHAT I DID LAST NIGHT?
I went to see David Tennant (Doctor Who) and Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard from Star Trek, and Professor Xavier from X-Men) in Hamlet at the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon!!!!!

DT in Hamlet – Ooooooooo how fab. I am up in Leicestershire soon and was thinking I’d love to see Mr Tennant and Mr Stewart in Hamlet. It’s been years since I’ve been to Stratford-upon-Avon and a long time since I’ve watched any Shakespeare being performed. Of course I’d be going to watch the play and not ogling David Tennant. Honest! So what was it like? Did David give a stunning performance? The RSC do fabulous productions but seeing Mr T as well would be fab I imagine (in my shallow Dr Who fan obsessed way). Off to check out website for tickets………….Kat :-)

Kat – I wrote a review this morning but I feel bad posting it. The reviewers are holding off until the show is out of previews and I feel a bit iffy about scooping.

I think I’ll at least wait until August 5th.

It’s Hamlet like I’ve never seen him…and a Hamlet that I think only Tennant could get away with. At least four scenes were absolutely mesmerizing.
