Magdalen College School – thanks for the flowers!

I had a perfectly lovely visit to Magdalen College Junior School where just over 100 impeccably behaved, intelligent boys and I discussed codes, the ancient Maya, the 7 wonders of the ancient world, the possibility of the collapse of civilisation and the craft of writing.

I treated the boys to a snippet of a VERY early draft of the book trailer for ICE SHOCK, the sequel to INVISIBLE CITY which is out in March 2009. And then the boys tried to guess the location of the mysterious ruins near Oxford in which Josh Garcia has a dramatic encounter in ICE SHOCK…

And look at the lovely flowers they gave me!

Thanks to Deborah Gordon (school librarian), the staff and to all the boys. I had a great time and really enjoyed meeting you!

Wow! I’m wowed by many things, wow they got a preview? lucky. Wow, nice tan lol! Wow nice flowers! Wow such intelligent discussion. I could probably deal with the writing discussion and a bit of Maya but codes etc. i would most likely collapse from the brain strain.

Could you BE any more glamorous? /Chandler voice

So ICE SHOCK it is, then, title-wise? And mysterious ruins. Hmm. I am entirely failing to think of anything ruinous around here. Clues, give us clues!

Lukas – I didn’t tell them anything I haven’t already told you or posted here. Remember the animoto video clip? That’s as far as I’ve got with the trailer.

Ruins in Oxford? Clue: by a river.

Tomorrow I will be dubbing my YouTube interview recorded at Scholastic into German! I reckon it may take one hour of takes to get through all of two paras worth of Deutsch without fluffing a word…

We on for coffee demain Susie? Costa@11ish.

😛 I don’t mind. They gave you flowers, you could tell them the ending for that, ha ha.
I have no idea about in Oxford, i’ll have to look it up.

A-ha! Haha! Code in the comments! Easy code, that is! You can’t do that anymore, MG, as soon as you are in the bestselling league. Otherwise the store will be brimming with autograph hunters and spoilerthirsty fans …

Indeed – gotta be careful with your hinting now. All it took for JK Rowling’s latest coffee house to be sussed was RubyTuesday’s mum falling upon her in Edinburgh.

Particularly in Oxford… beware the students.
